Medium sized goat (62-72 cm height) with variable coat colour and commonly polled (37%); has short coat hair and bearded (72%) (FARM-Africa, 1996).

Inhabit the agricultural highland areas of eastern and western Hararghe zones of eastern Ethiopia; the climate is highland subhumid to semi-arid; the production system is that of a densely populated area with crop-livestock mixed smallholder system (FARM-Africa, 1996).

Most likely associated with the origin of Short-Eared and Long-eared Somali goats (FARM-Africa, 1996).
