Special Characteristics: 
Tall (71-81cm height), coarse haired, white or fawn coloured goats; facial profile is universally concave; 14% of the goats are polled; hermaphroditism is frequent around Lake Tana (FARM-Africa, 1996).
Main Location: 
Inhabits the western highlands south Gondar, Gojjam, Wollega and western Shoa; the climate is highland subhumid, and the goat owners practice mixed crop-livestock smallholder farming (FARM-Africa, 1996).
Origin: 
Probably derived out of interbreeding of previous goat types in the Ethiopian highlands (FARM-Africa, 1996).
